DEMO CONTENT The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) promotes engaged teaching practice and the scholarship of teaching and learning for all TRU faculty members.
We collaborate with faculties and schools across the university to support the development of engaging pedagogies through innovative professional development, personalized consulting and supportive educational leadership. Our programs are designed to facilitate a teaching culture that improves student learning, successful transitions and learner retention.
Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) are cohorts of 8-12 faculty who meet regularly over the course of a semester or year to engage in collaboration and discussion about teaching and learning (based on a specific theme or topic). Each spring faculty have the opportunity to propose a theme for a faculty learning community. Once the FLCs themes for the year are determined, there is an application for participation in a particular FLC. These cohorts bring together a multidisciplinary group of faculty who are interested in exploring the challenges of teaching and in finding ways to improve student learning at TRU.
